Zoom Video Communications will in seine Software für Videokonferenzen bis Ende 2022 eine kostenlos verfügbare Untertitelungsfunktion für 30 Sprachen integrieren. Darüber hinaus soll für zahlende Kunden auch eine Übersetzungsfunktion für 12 Sprachen angeboten werden. Um welche Sprachen es sich handelt, wurde noch nicht verraten.
Beide Funktionen sollen dank künstlicher Intelligenz und maschineller Übersetzung praktisch in Echtzeit ausgeführt werden.
Diese Neuigkeiten gab das Unternehmen am 13. September 2021 zu Beginn der Veranstaltung „Zoomtopia 2021“ bekannt.
Automatische Untertitel kann die marktführende Software bislang nur bei englischsprachigen Konferenzschaltungen erstellen.
